Keeping Charities in the Know – Changes to the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme

The Government used the Queen's speech on the 18 May 2016 to announce a Small Charitable Donations Bill which will make changes to the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS). The changes will allow Charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) to claim gift aid style funding on small cash donations (up to £20) where it is often difficult to obtain a gift aid declaration. The Bill is intended to simplify Gift Aid eligibility criteria and clarify the current rules so as to reduce the administrative burden on newer and smaller charities.
