Welcome to Dioceses of Manchester, Chester & Leeds 4 Community

Giving, Generosity and Thankfulness at The Diocese of Manchester

Giving, Generosity and Thankfulness at The Diocese of Manchester image

Giving, Generosity and Thankfulness are essential aspects of our Christian discipleship. With input from across the whole diocese, including clergy, parish officers and St John's House staff, we have created a new and ambitious strategy. It has been designed to support every church as they seeks the funds needed to be the worshipping, growing, and transforming Christian presence that every community needs at its heart. Our aim is to help our churches address the themes of giving, generosity and thankfulness in order to grow and support each other, and better serve and work in partnership with their local communities.

Our work also includes the Gift Aid Lite scheme. This is an HMRC approved, agency based service, for the administration and claiming of donations received via Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS). This is a ‘free’ service to all Churches in the Diocese of Manchester using a new ‘cloud based’ donations management software programme.

Meet the funders and inspiring legacy giving image

This training day aims to inspire the development of Giving, Generosity, and Thankfulness as part of the mission of every church across our diverse diocese.  Some fantastic speakers have been recruited to deliver sessions that will support churches with the aim of increasing legacy giving from their congregations, and how to successfully apply for financial support from two grant funders who specialise in working with churches and Christian charities.

Inspiring legacy giving - Faith Will

What will the session cover? Christian Aid is working alongside the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, the Quakers, and the United Reformed Church to encourage people of faith to remember their own church and Christian Aid in their Wills. This ecumenical legacy campaign is the first of its kind and is designed to help make it easier to talk about legacy giving in church. In this session the range of free resources and tools available from Faith Will will be shared as well as ideas to help you to start legacy conversations in your church.
