THE UK’s only national Festival of Thrift has scooped the award for Arts and Culture
THE UK’s only national Festival of Thrift has scooped the award for Arts and Culture at last night’s (Thursday 02 July 2015) prestigious Observer Ethical Awards 2015.
The annual weekend event takes place at Lingfield Point - the founding site of the Festival - and attracts 40,000 visitors all celebrating and sharing what it means to live in a sustainable way.
Festival Director, Stella Hall, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to accept this award on behalf of the Festival of Thrift team, our funders, supporters and our community. The Festival is all about showing people how reusing, recycling and upcycling can be fun, save money and benefit the environment at the same time. Last year’s event saw a phenomenal turnout and we are delighted to have its success recognised by the Ethical Awards 2015.
We had some amazing volunteers for the Festival of Thrift 2014. Thank you!
We are now on the hunt for some fabulous volunteers for 2015. We have lots of different roles to fill. Would you be able to be able to provide information to the general public, support artists, help build and take down stages or support our makers in the workshops? It’s a great opportunity to develop your skills and make new friends.
