Now open | Suicide Prevention Grants

Leeds City Council Public Mental Health and Leeds Community Foundation are working in partnership to fund local third sector community initiatives aimed at people at risk of suicide. Suicide prevention is a key public mental health priority in Leeds within specific communities/groups, highlighted in the Leeds Suicide Audit and the Leeds Suicide Prevention Action Plan. Large grants and small grants are available.

Key information

We actively welcome more applications from, or benefitting, people under-represented in our grant making, for example LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people
Applicants should address risk factors for suicide or work targeted towards population groups at risk of suicide
Applicants should evidence the need for their projects using:
- Leeds Suicide Audit
- Leeds Suicide Action Plan
- Suicide Prevention Strategy
Applicants must run their activities in Leeds but can be registered/based outside the region. Priority will be given to organisations based in/registered in Leeds and have a good understanding of local communities and the Leeds Suicide Audit
The amount requested should be at least 50% of the total cost of the activity
Only one application per organisation can be considered

Examples of activity that can be funded

Build social connection/reduce isolation
Foster a sense of hope and purpose
Promote protective factors for wellbeing, e.g. considering the 5 ways to wellbeing or other model
Address risk factors highlighted in the Leeds Suicide Audit by providing early intervention and tailored support
Organisations can apply for continuation work; extension funding (for any organisation whose grant is due to end in 2026); new projects

Large Grants

Grant Size: £10,000 to £25,000

Location: Leeds

Duration: 12 months to 24 months

Deadline: 27/04/2026 at 12 noon

Decisions: June 2026
