Lunch Clubs is now open for applications!

Leeds Community Foundation, in partnership with Leeds City Council, are pleased to offer grants to support the vital work of lunch clubs, food provision and ongoing support for older people in Leeds.

Key information

  • We actively welcome more applications from, or benefitting, people under-represented in our grant making, for example LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people
  • Funding can support Lunch Clubs that serve/deliver a minimum of 10 meals per week Clubs should operate at least 40 weeks per year
  • Clubs should have adequate insurance
  • Clubs should have an up-to-date Safeguarding Policy for Adults
  • Staff/volunteers must have up to date Food Hygiene Training and have a written food safety management system
  • Clubs must be registered as a Food Business at least 28 days before the club starts. Please also read the Food Safety Requirements before making your application.
  • Grant allocations are calculated according to deprivation/need in the area, the number of applications received, alongside the number of weeks and participants. Grants sizes generally start at a few hundred pounds and usually don’t exceed £2,400. 

Examples of activity that can be funded

Funding is awarded as a contribution towards running costs. This can include:

  • Direct running costs – food, staff, volunteer expenses, room hire, transport, insurance, training
  • Activity that runs alongside your lunch club to enhance wellbeing and social connection, such as exercise, arts and crafts, etc.

We encourage face to face delivery of lunch clubs with appropriate safety measures, and can also support remote delivery to lunch club members where required.
