Now open | Creative Communities Legacy Fund

11/05/2026

The Creative Communities Legacy Fund supports community led creative and cultural activity that celebrates Bradford’s diversity and engages local people as part of the Bradford 2025 legacy. This opportunity is exclusively to support community organisations outside the traditional arts and cultural sector.

Successful non-arts focused organisations will be invited to complete a full application to develop and deliver creative and cultural activity shaped by local people. Funding will enable new ideas, build confidence and participation, and create opportunities for communities to come together through creativity.

Key information

  • We will only support activity rooted in lived experience, reaching underserved communities, including Black communities, men and boys, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities and contributing to a lasting, community‑led cultural legacy in Bradford.
  • Organisations must be led by communities experiencing racial inequity, especially those new to delivering arts and cultural activity. Unregistered organisations are ineligible.
  • Applicants wishing to apply must be registered with the Charity Commission, or with Companies House.
  • Organisations must be based in and have a registered address in Bradford and be able to demonstrate a good track record and connection with the communities in the city.
  • Organisations must have an income under £500,000 in the most recent financial year.
  • Only one application per organisation can be considered.
  • 15% of the fund can be spent towards core costs.

Examples of activity that can be funded

  • Community led creative workshops bringing local people together to explore music, dance, visual arts, storytelling or crafts that reflect their lived experience and cultural identity, culminating in a shared performance, exhibition or celebration.
  • Creative projects with Black communities, and/or men and boys, co designed with participants and local artists, using music, movement, film or spoken word to explore identity, heritage, confidence and belonging.
  • Creative engagement programmes for underserved communities, (e.g. Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities), that remove barriers to participation through accessible venues, trusted facilitators and flexible delivery shaped by community priorities.

These are just some suggested examples of the type of activity that would be possible, but we welcome a range of ideas.
