📢 Now Open | Jimbo's Fund

08/11/2023

Leeds Community Foundation is pleased to open the latest round of Jimbo's Fund for applications

Jimbo’s Fund was set up by generous local businessman, Jimi Heselden, to support people in hardship. Jimi tragically passed away in an accident in 2010, but the fund continues his legacy via support for Community Organisations.

Key information

  • Grants of £1K to £20K available over 1 year
  • The applicant and activity must be based in Leeds, and must have been operating for at least two-years
  • Funds will support people experiencing hardship/disadvantage
  • Projects supporting people in LS8, LS9, LS14 and LS15 are particularly encouraged
  • The amount requested should be at least 50% of the total cost of the activity
  • Only one application per organisation can be considered
  • We encourage applications from under-served and/or under-represented communities across all our funding opportunities

Applications need to clearly demonstrate:

  • Local people/participants have been consulted and the proposal responds to their need/s
  • The applicant organisation must demonstrate a track-record of working with communities in Leeds
  • We appreciate that many community organisations may wish to seek support towards keeping their community spaces open, alongside more targeted support for people experiencing food and fuel poverty, and other adverse effects of the Cost-of-Living crisis
  • Past funded activity includes: supporting asylum seekers with food and clothing; helping families access baby essentials, such as cots and bedding; street-level youth work for young people disengaged from mainstream services

Please note there is a change in the criteria for Jimbo’s Fund this year – applicants and activity must be based in Leeds. The Fund is always very competitive and we are not able to fund every application we receive. We expect to be able to fund between 20 to 30 applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The decision made by the grants panel is final.
