Healthy Holidays Grants Briefing Event

27/11/2018

Leeds Community Foundation is pleased to announce the return of the Healthy Holidays Programme that will provide grants of up to £6,000 to support locally-based community activities across Leeds.

Projects should be delivered in the most deprived areas of Leeds, with priority given to the areas identified as priority neighbourhoods by Leeds City Council and its partners, and should prioritise children who are eligible for free school meal. We are keen to receive applications from a diverse range of organisations. We will have a minimum £100,000 to distribute in this round but are engaged in further fundraising.

We are seeking to fund projects that address Holiday Hunger in Leeds through promoting Healthy Holiday activities with a food component for school-aged young people. Over 33,000 children live in poverty in Leeds; 20,000 children in Leeds are eligible for free school meals; 1/3 of parents skip a meal so that their children can eat during the school holidays. We know that returning to school in poor physical and mental condition can have a detrimental impact on children’s mental and physical wellbeing, as well as their educational attainment.

The briefing event will be held to answer questions and introduce the offer from potential partners including Street Games, FareShare, Fuel for School and Leeds City Council Catering and Library Services.
