Season’s Leavings: UK and EU Search for Brexit Breakthrough

On 14 November, the 585-page long Withdrawal Agreement and the 26-page long Political Declaration on the future relationship between the UK and EU was published. The Withdrawal Agreement specifically focuses on how the UK leaves the EU and covers significant areas including citizens’ rights; the transition period; financial provisions; and provisions relating to Northern Ireland. The Political Declaration sets out the framework for the future relationship between the UK and EU, with the two main pillars being trade and security.
