13/08/2018
This Universities UK (UUK) report looks at the ‘fourth industrial revolution’ and the role of universities and students in its delivery. According to UUK, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence and digital technology, with drive the revolution, which will increase the complexity of work and create a rapid pace of change. The changes inherent in this revolution will require different skills, continual re-skilling and increase demand for higher level skills. In addition to the onset of this fourth revolution, challenges posed by Brexit and an ageing population are also creating rising demand for qualifications above ‘level 4’, which includes foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas.
