Research Report Examines Issues Around Commercialisation of University IP

This report was prepared by RSM PACEC Ltd for the department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to improve understanding of how the commercialisation of university intellectual property (IP) currently functions and to identify opportunities for improvement. The report specifically focuses on two types of commercialisation transaction: licensing the use of university IP to an external company, and “spinning-out” a new company to develop and exploit university IP.
