Small Grants for Keighley and District - Deadline 17 January

Bradford Council’s Keighley Area Committee is making £73,000 in grants available to community groups in Keighley and district.
Community Centre Development Initiative
There will be £36,000 to improve buildings regularly used by the public, from community centres to church halls. Applications will be considered to assist community-based organisations to provide or improve community amenities i.e. equip, upgrade or resource facilities, including equipment or the repair, maintenance and improvements to buildings for community use. Special consideration will be given to applications that seek to make relevant modifications or to purchase equipment to assist people with disabilities or mobility problems. The maximum grant would not normally exceed £1,000 for any individual project. Funding is for capital projects only.
Sporting Communities
A further £18,000 will fund sport activities for community groups and centres. Applications will be considered from community-based organisations to provide or improve sporting activity and that demonstrate one or more of the following:·
- raising participation levels through projects that provide new sporting or exercise opportunities
- encouraging and involving local people in sporting activity, and promoting and informing on, the health benefits of becoming more active
- developing sport-related projects which demonstrate an effective contribution to physical and mental health.
Special consideration will be given to applications that seek to expand provision to encourage the involvement of people with disabilities or additional need. The maximum grant would not normally exceed £1,000 for any individual project. Grants will normally be, under broad and flexible guidelines, awarded to cover capital expenditure.
The committee has set aside a further £20,000 to buy equipment for uniformed youth groups, including scouts, guides and cadet forces.
