Grassroots Grants

04/03/2011

Following the success of the Grassroots Grants programme, the Office for Civil Society (OCS) has decided to offer further funding across thirty top-tier local authority areas in England.

Bradford has been chosen as one of these areas and Bradford and District Community Empowerment Network, (CNet), is to deliver this grant programme on behalf of the Community Development Foundation, across the whole of Bradford District (Bradford, Keighley, Bingley, Shipley and Ilkley), where small amounts of funding can make a real difference.

The grants aim to support small, largely volunteer-led community organisations and groups that have been established or active for at least 12 months, are run mainly by volunteers, have a constitution and governing documents and have an income of less than £30,000 per year, taken as an average over the last three years. Groups are invited to apply for grants of £250 to £5000.

Groups that have received grants under this scheme before are eligible to apply provided their project has been completed and satisfactory monitoring reports have been submitted. However, priority will be given to first-time applicants. New, creative and innovative projects that will help improve the quality of life of local citizens are particularly encouraged.

The deadline is 12 noon on Wednesday 23 March.

The grant must be spent by 30 September 2011, with the monitoring reports and receipts of grant spent submitted immediately thereafter. This will be the only round for this additional Grassroots Grant programme and will not be available again after the funds are exhausted.
