01/07/2015
Advance Notice of proposed new £200 million venture capital fund, anticipated to open in autumn 2015.
The Business Growth Fund (BGF) is a £2.5 billion equity investment fund established by the government to meet growth finance needs of UK companies. The fund is targeted at firms with a high potential for growth, and invests between £2 million and £10 million in return for a minimum equity stake of 10%.
The British Growth Fund is expanding its activities with the launch of the largest ever venture capital fund dedicated to earlier stage UK technology companies. Outline details of the BGF’s £200 Million Venture Fund were released in June 2015. The fund will be run by a new, dedicated team based in London and will open for business in autumn 2015.
BGF will provide £200 million of investable capital as well as support from its established regional platform, meaning the team can focus on investing in Britain's best entrepreneurial talent.
Earlier stage UK technology companies will be eligible to apply.
The Fund is expected to launch in the autumn of 2015, at which point expanded information will be available.
